The Antennae galaxies, located about 62 million light-years from Earth, are shown in this image assembled from pictures taken by the Chandra X-ray Observatory (blues), the Hubble Space Telescope (golds and browns), and the Spitzer Space Telescope (reds). The Antennae galaxies take their name from the long antenna-like “arms,” produced by tidal forces generated when these galaxies collided.
