Service to Save Key Scans on a Server and 3D Print New Copies
(KeySave) “Key Save,” a new service from a Belgian insurance company, will be available in September. Customers can 3D scan their keys and save the scan on a secure server. When they lose the key, they can simply access the server and download the 3D printable file of the key. Then, they can send the file to a 3D printer or take it to a local 3D print shop and print a new one. The company claims the service will also save them money, because insurance companies lose money every year replacing locks whenever people are locked out.
